Three options will be available for the excursion:
(i) Bus transportation to
CERN, visit one of the experiments,
bus transportation back. The capacity is limited, so it will be on a
first come, first served basis.
Note also that you should be prepared for some latency
as only a small number of people can enter the experiment at a
time, and the rest have to hang around on ground level.
(ii) Train transportation to the historic
Chillon castle
near Montreux, close to a strategic location where the river Rhone
joins the Lake of Geneva. Visit of the castle, and a short walk
on a hill-side nearby. Train transportation
back to Lausanne, and the metro line m2 or a downhill stroll to
Ouchy.
(iii) Walk (about 6km) from EPFL to
Ouchy
along the lake side, with a visit
to the
Olympic museum at the
end.
The excursion is included in the conference fee (preferences
are stated when registering).
The excursion is followed by a dinner on a boat, departing from Ouchy.
